Over 140 volunteers welcome you to Buggy Days 2015

By Walter Geiger After a successful pageant over the weekend with 91 contestants, the 42nd annual Buggy Days festival rolls on this week with its headline events. Buggy Days is fueled by the work of over 140 volunteers. Over 100 will be on hand for the Old Fashioned Games Saturday alone. The action heats up Thursday at Trojan Field. Kids Night kicks off at 4:30 p.m. followed by the Almost Anything Goes at 6:30 p.m. Both of these events are free. On Friday, the Street Dance will bring food and frolic to Ritz Park in downtown Barnesville. Admission is $10. Kids ages 10 and under get in free. The headline act, Hudson Road, will take the stage at about 9:15 p.m. Preliminary acts include DJ Nay Nay, The Kiser Band and Backwoodz Branded. Bring a lawn chair and/or blanket. No outside coolers or drinks allowed. Beer, wine and wine based drinks will be available. The annual Buggython will be run Saturday morning at 8 a.m. with runners and walkers gathering at the GSC athletic parking lot off College Drive. There will be a 10K run, 5K run, 5K race walk and a two mile fun walk. The arts and crafts festival will run all day Saturday and Sunday. There will also be a Kids Park section in the United Bank parking lot off Main Street. The annual parade begins at 2 p.m. Saturday The Old Fashioned Games, featured the beloved pig chase, will be held Saturday evening at the Rodeo Arena on Roberta Drive. Games open at 5 p.m. A fireworks display will follow the games at dusk.
