Patterson doesn’t see Greenco meeting requirements

With a public information meeting and court date looming next week, Greenco Environmental has much work to do to meet standards set for its composting operation on Roger Brown Drive, county administrator Wayne Patterson told the Industrial Development Authority Feb. 11. Greenco has been besieged with complaints about odors from its operation. Patterson said he was called out once to a home near the site at 6:30 a.m. one day recently when a homeowner’s daughter was overcome by the odor and vomited in her driveway. ”They are trying hard but I just don’t see how they are going to make it,” Patterson sadi. In other business, the IDA received the resignation of member and Herald-Gazette publisher Walter Geiger effective March 31 or upon the appointment by the City of Barnesville of his successor. The Geiger family is moving to Spalding County to care for Mrs. Geiger’s aging parents.
