One of the world’s longest yard sales will begin in Barnesville Friday, March 9. The eighth annual Peaches to the Beaches Yard Sale will run through 6 p.m. March 10 along Highway 341 and the Golden Isles Parkway. The 240-mile yard sale links peach-growing counties in middle Georgia to the beaches of the Golden Isles, with stops in some 19 communities along the way. Thousands of shoppers are expected at the event, with vendors selling everything from antiques and locally crafted items to traditional yard sale wares. Official group vendor sites in each community can be found on the official website at peachestothebeaches.com. Patrons will find vendors of all kinds as well as a treasure map at each official community site to help locate participating offsite vendors in the area. Offsite vendors will be identified by an official vendor sign along the way. Shoppers are encouraged to shop only official vendors that display the vendor sign and at group sites. These vendors make it possible for the Golden Isles Parkway Association to continue promoting and organizing the growing event each year. Some communities will have varying hours so shoppers who plan to travel the entire route should visit the official website for detailed information. For shoppers, The Shop ‘˜Til You Drop Contest invites participants to shop the many official Peaches to the Beaches yard sale locations during the event. To qualify individuals must have their shopping passport stamped a specified number of times at official participating communities. Once the participant has completed shopping during the sale, the individual will need to drop the completed passport in an official drop box in a participating community.
