PGP project off to fast start

Rollcast Energy has established an office here and company officials have gotten a quick start on construction of the Piedmont Green Power project. Rollcast’s Rufus Kellam, who has spearheaded power projects all over the world including Argentina and Iraq, said the City of Barnesville established temporary power at the plant site in ‘world class time’. Kellam and Rollcast construction manager Mike Murphy welcomed an advance team from Zachry, Inc., the builder, last week. The company has established a temporary office at 27 Market Street and hiring for construction jobs will likely be done there. The PGP project, a 53 MW biomassfueled power generation plant, has also attracted statewide attention. A busload of statewide economic developers will visited the site Wednesday, according to IDA executive director Missy Kendrick. The tour was sponsored by MEAG.
