Mr. Philip DeWitt Ard, Sr. age 75, of Barnesville passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015 at his residence. He was born May 14, 1940 in Williamsburg, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Mr. Albert Ard and the late Mrs. Lexie Virginia Gainey Ard and was also preceded in death by three brothers, Joe Ard, Douglas Ard and Mike Ard. Mr. Ard retired as an inspector from the Ford Motor Company and was a member at Lilla Memorial Baptist Church. Mr. Ard and his wife loved to travel, whether jumping in the car or taking a vacation in the motor home. Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Ard; three sons, Philip Ard Jr. (and Misty) of McDonough, Tim Ard (and Becky) of Griffin and Scott Ard (and Tammy) of McDonough; nine grandchildren, Megan Fort, Brie Harrison, Kylie Ard, Bryant Ard, Hannah Ard, Caroline Ard, Kevin Ard, Jason Ard and Amy Ard; two great-grandchildren, Sawyer Fort and Reeves Harrison; three sisters, Bertha Ann Chandler (and Don), Phyllis Earls (and Dennis) and Peggy Sutton (and Danny) and one brother Aubrey Ard (and Janie). Funeral services for Mr. Philip DeWitt Ard, Sr. will be conducted Sunday, October 11, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Lilla Memorial Baptist Church with the Reverend Rex Kessler officiating. Interment will follow in the Lilla Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery.
