Mike Ranow, 59, of Barnesville was transported by ambulance to Macon Upson Regional M.C. following a head-on collision on Piedmont Road near The Rock Road Monday night. The driver of the other vehicle – Michael Maddox, 67, of Meansville – was lifeflighted to Macon Medical Center. According to GSP reports, the vehicle driven by Ranow was traveling east on Piedmont Road, negotiating a curve when the second vehicle entered the westbound lane. The report says Maddox took evasive action and veered to the north shoulder. The report says Ranow also veered to the north shoulder and both vehicles struck each other head on off the roadway. Neither driver was ejected, and according to the report, their injuries were non-fatal.
