Plane makes emergency landing near Grove Street

A vintage aircraft began losing oil pressure and altitude Tuesday afternoon and the pilot was forced to make an emergency landing in a pasture at the home of Ed Williams at 388 Grove Street. The pilot was a male. He was flying with a female he identified as his pastor. Once he realized he could not make it back to Peachstate Airport in Williamson where the flight originated, the pilot put it down in Williams’ pasture. The plane, a Cessna 140 taildragger registered to Virgil P. Warren of Macon, took out a telephone line on its way down but was not damaged. It will remain in the pasture until it is repaired and flown out or trucked out. Williams reported this was not the first time a plane has been forced down on his property.
