Between Sunday, July 29, and Friday, Aug. 3, the Barnesville police department made two arrests:Yolanda McCoy, 32, 105B 13th St. Barnesville, disorderly conduct;Elix Mays, 23, 905 Piedmont Pines, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and escape.Officers answered 85 calls for service including one fight, one animal complaint, six security checks, one theft, one shoplifting, four domestics, one subject with firearm, 15 foot patrols, three suspicious persons/vehicles, two accidents, seven escorts, seven alarms, one damage to property and one harassing phone call. They issued seven citations including one no proof of insurance, one failure to maintain lane, one failure to stop at stop sign, one headlight violation, one child safety seat violation, one shoplifting and one disorderly conduct.Golf cart violationsThe Barnesville police department will be checking golf carts for underage drivers. In accordance with state law, the driver of a golf cart must have a valid drivers license and be 16 years of age. If an underage driver is stopped while driving the golf cart, the parents or legal guardians will be issued a citation for allowing another to violate state law. On the second offense, the underage driver will be cited for driving without a license along with the parents or legal guardians being cited for allowing another to violate state law. It is recommended that infants not be transported on golf carts due to safety reasons. Accidents on the roadway can happen anytime to any type of vehicle.
