Prayer vigil for council member Anne Claxton tonight

A prayer vigil for Barnesville city council member Anne Claxton will be held Wednesday, September 16 at 7:50 p.m. in the parking lot at First Baptist Church of Barnesville. Claxton has been diagnosed with esophageal cancer and is scheduled to undergo major surgery later this week at Emory Hospital in Atlanta. Esophageal cancer is a malignant (cancerous) tumor of the esophagus, the muscular tube that moves food from the mouth to the stomach. Esophageal cancer is relatively uncommon in the United States, and occurs most often in men over 50 years old. It affects less than 5 in 100,000 people.
