By Kay S. PedrottiA special guest, Miss Georgia 2012 Leighton Jordan of Suwanee, will be with Lamar High girls getting ready for prom on April 6, says Becky Patterson, an organizer of the Pretty for Prom project.’We’re very excited that Miss Georgia has agreed to visit with the girls and help them look their best for prom. We’re also thrilled that the program has taken off so quickly we now have 43 gorgeous donated dresses, along with shoes, jewelry and other accessories,’ Patterson adds.Nine girls have applied so far but the application time is still open to those who cannot afford to buy prom dresses. Participants will receive makeup, hair and nail attention from hairdressers and cosmetologists who are donating their time.Patterson says, ‘Many of these girls will be finding out how it feels to be pampered and pretty.’She adds that anyone who is able to come that day and assist, or just encourage the girls, is welcome. Donors are needed to dry clean dresses, buy prom decorations or contribute to the total look for the girls. Slices Pizzeria will provide their lunch in the school cafeteria and the dresses are hanging on racks donated by Ace Cleaners.
