Public hearing on county budget is Tuesday

A public hearing on the 2013 Lamar County proposed budget is set for Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 6 p.m. in the commission meeting room in the courthouse. A copy of the complete proposed budget is available for public inspection during regular business hours in the commission office. All oral and written comments concerning this 2013 proposed budget will be considered. The proposed budget will be voted on during the commissioners’ regular meeting on Dec. 18. The budget totals $8,336,785 in revenues and $8,359,785 in expenses, a difference of $23,000. Expenditures include $1,413,807 for maintenance and operation plus $8,875 in capital outlay. Judicial and courts will get $1,157,563. Public safety is set at $3,835,089 with $14,125 in capital outlay. Public works and roads will get $884,149. Public health, welfare and community services are to receive $286,005, culture and recreation $421,950 and conservation and development $338,222. Revenues are expected to include $6,768,469 in taxes. Licenses and permits should bring in $72,000, intergovernmental revenues $207,007, charges for services, $791,799, fines and forfeitures $496,500, investment revenues, $510 and other financing sources $23,500.
