REQUEST FOR RELEASE OF FUNDS On or about January 26, 2017, the Lamar County Board of Commissioners will submit a request to the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) for the release of Federal CDBG funds under Title 1 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended, to undertake a project known as the 2017 Lamar County Public Health Department project, for the purpose of providing a clean and safe environment for residents requiring public health services, by constructing a new 6,000 square foot building at the corner of Redbud and Academy Drive (118 Academy Drive). The estimated cost of the project is approximately $1,000,000. FINDING OF NO SIGNIFICANT IMPACT (FONSI) The Lamar County Board of Commissioners has determined that the project will have no significant impact on the human environment. Therefore, an Environmental Impact Statement under the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) is not required. Additional project information is contained in the Environmental Review Record (ERR) on file at the Lamar County Administration Building, 408 Thomaston Street, Barnesville, GA, and may be examined or copied weekdays 9 AM to 4 PM. PUBLIC COMMENTS Any individual, group, or agency may submit written comments on the ERR to the Lamar County Board of Commissioners. Comments should specify which Notice they are addressing. ENVIRONMENTAL CERTIFICATION The Lamar County Board of Commissioners certifies to HUD/DCA that Charles E. Glass, in his capacity as Commission Chairman consents to accept the jurisdiction of the Federal Courts if an action is brought to enforce responsibilities in relation to the environmental review process and that these responsibilities have been satisfied. HUD’s and DCA’s approval of the certification satisfies its responsibilities under NEPA and related laws and authorities and allows the Lamar County Board of Commissioners to use Program funds.
