(9-3)(b) Notice of Seizure and Forfeiture State of Georgia vs. Three Thousand Five Hundred fourteen ($3,514.00) Dollars in United States Currency Case No. 19B-325-W On or about August 2, 2019, on and around Interstate Highway 75 in Lamar County, Georgia, officers of the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office seized the above-listed property. At the date and time of the seizure Wilton Edwards and James Odoms were in possession and constructive possession of the said United States currency. Odoms was the driver of a rented vehicle that was travelling on Interstate 75 in Lamar County, Georgia, and in which Edwards was a passenger. The vehicle was stopped for traffic violations by a Deputy with the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office. A probable cause search was conducted. In addition to the above-listed property which was found bundled in a the pants pocket of Edwards, the search yielded a large quantity of marijuana. Further, Edwards has at least two prior felony drug convictions from the state of Florida. The above-listed property was used or intended for use, directly or indirectly, to facilitate a violation of Georgia’s controlled substance laws in Lamar County, Georgia, punishable by imprisonment for more than one year and was found in proximity to a large quantity of marijuana. At the date and time of the seizure Michael J. Parker was in possession of the said United States currency. Defendant was the driver of the vehicle that was travelling on Interstate 75 in Lamar County, Georgia, and which vehicle was stopped for traffic violations by a Deputy with the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office. A probable cause search was conducted. In addition to the above-listed property which was found bundled in a multicolored zipper pouch, for which Defendant claimed ownership, the search yielded a quantity of marijuana and a large quantity of heroin. Further, Defendant stated to the officers that he is employed in the business of selling drugs. The above-listed property was used or intended for use, directly or indirectly, to facilitate a violation of Georgia’s controlled substance laws in Lamar County, Georgia, punishable by imprisonment for more than one year and was found in proximity to a quantity of marijuana and a large quantity of heroin.
