No. M005670 Lamar County The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is in the process of preparing the environmental studies for the bridge listed below. The proposed project is scheduled to be Let to construction in September 2017 and construction activities will commence during the Lamar County School System summer break 2018 to ensure that school bus routes are not affected. The proposed bridge includes: 1.High Falls Road (CR 212) over I-75 This project proposes to rehabilitate the bridge by raising the bridge to a minimum vertical clearance of 17′-0′ and adjusting the roadway items to match the new bridge elevation, strengthening or replacing the caps, joint replacement, asphalt removal and new overlay on the decks, painting the steel superstructure, repairing of cracks and spalls in the substructure, and removal of vegetation from 10-15′ either side of the bridge structure in the existing Right of Way. In addition, the project will replace or extend existing drainage structures within the project limits and replace rip-rap at the drainage outlets. The project limits at the bridge site will not extend more than 600 feet beyond the ends of the bridge. Any side roads or driveways within these limits will be adjusted to tie into the mainline alignment. The side roads tie-in will extend approximately 100 feet and the driveways will be adjusted for approximately 30 feet. All project work will take place within the existing Right of Way at the bridge structure location. It is necessary to close the bridge to through traffic for approximately 45 days in order to complete the bridge rehabilitation. The use of a temporary detour route would be necessary for the duration of the closure. Signage would be posted 30 days in advance of the actual road closure in addition to signs detailing the route of the detour at the bridge at the time of construction. Road closure and detour signs will be visibly installed for the duration of the closure. The purpose of this advertisement is to provide you with advanced notification of the proposed road closure and detour.
