Annual Inspection Of Lamar County Detention Facility: A committee from the Grand Jury inspected the Lamar County jail. The jail was found to be in good order, with adequate security systems and satisfied personnel. It has been freshly painted and has new air conditioning. There are appropriate accounting procedures in place. The kitchen graded 100% on its recent health department inspection. We recommend that members of the public be allowed to tour the jail occasionally. The Clerk of Superior Court having held certain election materials as set out in the O.C.G.A § 21-2-500 for more than 24 months, and after presenting these election materials for the Grand Jury’s inspection, the Grand Jury hereby authorizes that said Clerk to destroy said materials after our adjournment.
