The kitchen had 100% on health inspection and the entire facility was clean and adequate to meet the needs of the inmates. Specifically, there was a transgender inmate in a separate location to make sure he was safe. We recommend providing a better evidence storage room, update the internet/cable access system regarding the weather alert system to the county, change the investigator/special victims area so that confidentiality is ensured for the victim, empower county commissioners to develop a plan to build a new facility and/or utilize the Detention Center.Tax Commissioners Office:The Tax Commissioners office seemed efficient. Record keeping was easy to understand. They had in place a check and balance system for money coming in and out. We recommend that they update the internet system and provisions be made for security during regular office hours.Superior Court:The court was found to have new filing cabinets and carpet, all data was backed up on computer software, a fire door was in place to prevent destruction of documents. They had a budget showing how funds were distributed. We recommend that a larger work space be provided for them. The Clerk of Superior Court having held certain election materials as set out in the O.C.G.A § 21-2-500 for more than 24 months, and after presenting these election materials for the Grand Jury’s inspection, the Grand Jury hereby authorizes that said Clerk to destroy said materials after our adjournment. We recommend that these presentments be published in the official organ and the regular fee be paid for publishing. This the 21st day of January, 2015.Respectfully submitted,Linda Smith-Olivier ForepersonReceived in Open Court, ordered filed and published.
