The following information courtesy of Bill Brown, Director of Public Works, concerning road and bridge closings. ’¢ Due to heavy rains earlier this month and the bi-annual state bridge inspection, Ruffner Road Bridge is closed indefinitely. A detour route around Ruffner Road is Allen Road off of Piedmont Road. No school busses cross Ruffner Road Bridge. ’¢ Allen Road, which was once closed, has been reopened because of the Ruffner Road Bridge closing. ’¢ Perkins Road has been closed due to heavy rains earlier this month and is currently under repair. ’¢ Old 41 Hwy. is still partially closed. Bids are being considered for repairs. ’¢ Van Buren Bridge has been lowered from 20 tons to 4 tons because of state inspections. The school system has to reroute due to ton limitations. ’¢ Piedmont Road Bridge has been lowered from 20 tons to 5 tons because of state inspections. ’¢ As repairs are made there will be other road closings announced.
