A man seeking a zoning special exception for a 312-foot radio tower with space for cellphone transmitters has withdrawn his request. Jack Smith had sought the tower to host transmissions for WTGA. He wanted to site it on a 6.76 -acre tract he owns in northeast Lamar. A zoning hearing on the matter was set for Wednesday, August 8 with county commission review set for August 21. All of those hearings have now been cancelled, according to Maria Hall of the Lamar zoning office.
