Heavy rains falling on saturated ground have wreaked havoc with county roads today. Multiple roads are closed and things are likely to get worse before they get better.County administrator Wayne Patterson reported multiple problems. ‘These issues are due to large volumes of water our drainage systems cannot handle. Roads will be closed until the water recedes and we can make repairs,’ Patterson said.The following roads are closed to through traffic. In most instances, residents can get to their homes one way or another:’¢ McCollum Rd. between Yatesville Rd. and Hwy. 36.’¢ Crawford Rd. between Hwy. 41 and Johnstonville Rd.’¢ Allen Rd.’¢ Old Hwy 41 between Fellowship Dr. and Highway 41/Ga. 7.’¢ Perkins Rd.’¢ Bottoms Rd.’¢ Lindsey Rd.’¢ Sand Hill Rd.’¢ Sudduth Rd.’¢ Brinkley Rd.If you spot other problem roads or other water damage, post your observations here or call 358-NEWS.
