Ray Wesley Brinkley, age 85, of Barnesville, GA died Friday, December 11, 2015. Born in Barnesville on Feb. 20, 1930, he was the son of the late Annie Williams and Henry William Brinkley.He was a graduate of the Gordon Military College High School Division and a longtime Lamar County Commissioner. He served in the Korean War and was a member of the Barnesville Church of the Nazarene. He was a past member of the Lamar County Lion’s Club. In his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends who met regularly for breakfast at Hardee’s in Barnesville to solve the problems of the world. He was known for his sense of humor and taught his children and grandchildren the value of laughter.In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers: Herman Daniel Brinkley (WWII) and William Henry Brinkley.He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margie Brinkley; his daughters, Rhonda (John) Toon, Deanna (Mike) Turner and Amanda (Aaron) Buice, all of Barnesville; his grandchildren Courtney (Adam) McDaniel of Barnesville, Daniel (Kelley) Toon of Roswell, Hannah Turner, Abigail Turner and Noah Buice, all of Barnesville; a step-grandson, Justin (Jen) Turner; five great-grandchildren, Carter, Connor and Rhys McDaniel of Barnesville and Emlyn and Everett Toon of Roswell; four step-great grandchildren, Nate and Sydney Turner, June and Joseph Turner, all of Newnan; his twin brother, Roy F. (Diane) Brinkley of Barnesville; a nephew he raised like a son, Melvin G. (Janice) Dukes of Toccoa; and a number of other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.Visitation for Mr. Ray W. Brinkley will be on Saturday, December 12, 2015 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at 3:00pm at the Barnesville Church of the Nazarene. Reverend Lonie Grant, Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Barnesville.
