Work off those Thanksgiving calories by joining the Barnesville Holiday Hustle 2015 5K at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5. Benefitting the Dolly Goodpuppy Society, registration is $30 prior to the race and $35 on race day. Participants can choose to run or walk and win prizes for dressing in the spirit of the event. Those who bring a donation of dog food or cash will receive a raffle ticket for a basket of goodies. T-shirts will be given to each runner and extras may be purchased if available. Registration packet pickup starts at 6 p.m. or register online at Active.com by searching for Barnesville Holiday Hustle. ’This year’s race benefits the Dolly Goodpuppy Society, a Department of Agriculture licensed canine rescue organizations and donations are tax deductible. We promote responsible pet ownership,’ said Kathy Oxford. ‘Bring a bag of dog food, puppy pads, paper towels, rubber gloves or cash to the event and get a raffle ticket for a prize.’The race route is the same as the Barnesville Buggy Days 5K, beginning and ending at Summers Field. ’This is an evening fun run and runners should wear reflective clothing and get in the holiday spirit with flashing, glowing or blinking lights,’ said Oxford. ‘Even if you don’t plan to run, come out and support all the runners with your flashing lights and holiday spirit.’Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 overall male and female finishers as well as first and second place awards for male and female runners in age categories.
