Rickman brings softball experience to GSC

When Lady Highlander incoming freshman pitcher Jessica Rickman arrives on the campus of Gordon State College this fall she will bring with her the experience of having played softball abroad. The Lindale native played this summer with a Georgia-based team that represented the United States in Italy. Rickman was chosen to play on the team sponsored by Cross Training Softball along with girls from the Buford area. The team roster also included two Canadians. She and her teammates played eight games, two doubleheaders in Rome and Florence, in eight days and had plenty of time for sightseeing. A graduate of Pepperell High School in Rome where she played for her father Jeff, Rickman was named the Rome News-Tribune’s Pitcher of the Year after her senior season last fall. She helped the Lady Dragons to a fourth place finish in Region 7-AA and an appearance in the GHSA state tournament.
