Ritz Park to sizzle Saturday

The gates open at 6 p.m. for the annual Summer Sizzle show and the music will start right on time as the Barnesville-Lamar County Chamber of Commerce holds its annual event Saturday, July 21, at the Ritz Park. ’This is a fundraiser for the chamber, but we wanted to give people a good value for their buck,’ said organizer T.J. Imberger. The concert will feature local favorites Lady Creech and Girlz Girlz Girlz, a nationally known ‘˜80s cover band. Also on the bill are Sons-N-Britches of Kennesaw, who will open the show at 6 p.m. ’Lady Creech is well known locally and Girlz Girlz Girlz are very authentic. I’ve seen their show and they’re good,’ said Imberger. ’Sons-N-Britches are a very well known band too.’ Attendees are asked to bring their own chairs and blankets ‘“ and their IDs instead of coolers, which are not allowed. Tips at the adult beverage tent will go to Relay for Life and concessions will be provided by Griffin’s Dawg House, which offers specialty hot dogs. Brightmoor Hospice will again sponsor a prize wheel everyone will have a chance to spin and the chamber will have a booth with its own event articles for sale. ’The first 500 people through the gate will get a Landshark fin hat,’ said Imberger. ‘It’s going to be a lot of fun.’ Admission is $10 with children 10 and under admitted free. Presented by United Bank, sponsors include Upson Regional Medical Center, Southern Rivers Energy, Kitchen Drawer magazine, Landshark Lager and Bud Light.
