Robert Raymond Collins

Mr. Robert Raymond Collins, age 87, of Thomaston, Ga., died at Pike Manor on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014. Mr. Collins was born on Dec. 26,1926 in Toccoa, Ga., to the late Jasper and Birdie Mae Collins. He was formerly employed with the William Carter Company where he worked in the pattern department until his retirement in 1992. Mr. Collins was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a faithful caregiver to his late wife Mrs. Barbara Collins. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Collins attended New Hope Baptist Church. Survivors include his daughters Mrs. Nan (Russell) Smith of Americus, Ga., and Mrs. Janet (Billy) Butts of Brooks, Ga.; brother Mr. Jack (Peggy) Collins of Columbus, Ga.; sister, Mrs. Ollie C. (Tootsie) Manry of Barnesville, Ga.; grandchildren Kelli Smith (Russ) Pennington of Atlanta, Ga., William (Crystal) Butts of Atlanta, Ga., Kristi Lynn Smith of Americus, Ga., Joseph (Rebecca) Smith of Suwanee, Ga., and Brooke (Jason) Parrott of Vinings, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Caroline Collins Pennington of Atlanta, Ga., Eleanor Pennington of Atlanta, Ga., and Maddox Smith of Suwanee, Ga. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. Coggins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
