One of the options on the table for correcting sight lines and other issues at the hazardous intersection of Hwy. 36 East and Morgan Dairy Road is a roundabout.Roundabouts are suddenly a favorite with the insurance industry and, as a result, with Georgia’s Department of Transportation.’They drop the accident rate by about 80%,’ DOT’s Tom Queen told the Lamar commission at its regular meeting June 8.The nearest roundabout that Lamar countians may have experienced is at the intersection of highways 341 and 74 near Culloden. That work cost DOT $1 million to $2 million, Queen said.Work at the intersection will not begin for at least three years.
