Fred Morris 1936 – 2024
Roy Frederick (Fred) Morris, 87, of Barnesville, Georgia passed away at home on Monday March 25, 2024.
He is survived by his wife Kendall Morris, sons Roy Fredrick Morris II, Gary Morris (wife Gay), stepsons John and Ken Edison. Sister Linda Busch, Beckley, WVA. Grandchildren, Graham Morris and Katie Morris-Smith (husband Matthew).
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jane Boggs Morris (1980). His parents Clyde and Irene Morris of Beckley, WVA, Sister, Clara Herrick of Jacksonville, FL.
Fred was passionate about all he did. From his 50-year career in the flooring industry, which ended in retirement from Mohawk Industries. That same passion continued with his involvement in the Barnesville Woodturners Club, as a puppy raiser for the Guide Dog foundation and as a longtime member of Barnesville Rotary. He was a strong advocate for animals which led to the culmination of the new Lamar County Animal Shelter and Morris Adoption Center. In his last months Fred continued to be an advocate for animals by establishing Fred’s Animal Welfare foundation to further improve the health of Lamar County pets.
In lieu of flowers we ask for donations to be made to Fred’s Animal Welfare, 1225 Crawford Rd., Barnesville, GA. 30204.
A celebration of life will be held April 14, 2024, at Summer’s Field, 1:30-3:30.
