Lamar County voters go to the polls today to cast ballots in the General Primary Runoff. Polling places throughout the county will be open from 7 a.m. – 7p.m.
The premier event on local ballots is the battle between Don Coffey and Jason Lovett for the Republican nomination for the District 2 county commission seat. The winner will face Democrat Ulanda Barkley in the November general election.
There are runoffs in several statewide races on the Democrat ballot as well.
Turnout is expected to be light. During the advance voting period last week, elections superintendent Anita Reid and her staff served 190 voters and processed 69 absentee ballots.
