Lamar County commission chairman Ryran Traylor was awarded the Emory Greene Leadership Award for 2026 by the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) at its recent annual conference in Savannah. The award is the highest honor bestowed by ACCG.
“This award honors individuals who have made an exemplary difference in their communities and the state,” ACCG executive director Dave Wills said.
Traylor was lauded for demonstrating fiscal discipline, stability and principled governance under challenging circumstances. He played a key role in eliminating a $5 million tax anticipation note, saving $60,000 annually in interest and improving the county’s credit rating. During his tenure, he has fortified relations between the city and county while actively supporting local economic development as a member of the Industrial Development Authority. He has filled many other leadership roles in the community over the past 26 years.
“Ryran has made a lasting impact that will positively benefit Lamar County and its constituents for years to come,” Willis added.
The Emory Greene Leadership Award was created in 1990. It is named in honor of the late Emory Greene, chairman of the Bibb County commission and former ACCG president.
