A memorial service for Joseph Saia, late chief public defender for the Griffin Judicial Circuit, will be held Thursday, December 30 at 11:30 a.m. at the Pike County courthouse. Saia did considerable work in the Lamar County courthouse before abandoning a lucrative private practice to head up the public defenders’ office. A reception will follow at the Chandler Building at 15 Jackson Street, also in Zebulon. A.S. Turner Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
