A Lamar County school bus was involved in a serious collision Friday afternoon at the intersection of Hwy. 36 West and McCollum Rd., snarling traffic in the area.Witnesses reported the bus was traveling west on Hwy. 36 and missed a left turn onto McCollum. The driver backed up and, when reattempting the turn, pulled into the path of a compact pickup truck traveling east. The bus driver was not injured. There were no children on the bus.The male driver of the pickup was knocked unconscious for a time and was transported to an area hospital. A small female child in the truck was also transported as a precaution. An adult female in the truck was uninjured. None of the injuries was thought to be life-threatening.School superintendent Dr. Bill Truby was on the scene of the accident which was being investigated by the Georgia State Patrol in addition to Lamar deputies
