The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools has given Lamar County schools districtwide accreditation for the next five years. The board of education got the news at its Feb. 10 meeting.”We are accredited at the highest level,” said assistant superintendent of curriculum Norma Greenwood. “We’re one of a few such school systems that have never lost accreditation.”Lamar schools could be among those honored at the national convention for attaining the new district accreditation, noted superintendent Dr. Bill Truby.Two years ago the school system was put on accreditation probation for a 6-month period.
