Start and end times for Lamar County schools next year will remain the same, according to superintendent Dr. Jute Wilson.Wilson’s statement released yesterday states: ‘After careful consideration of the proposal to stagger the start/release times of Lamar County schools for the 2015-16 school year, the decision has been made to leave the current schedule in place with no change. Our goal as a school system remains to provide the very best educational experience for Lamar County students. This can only be accomplished by working together to identify areas in which we can improve, then developing practical solutions. We sincerely appreciate the valuable feedback from parents and community members on this issue, and we look forward to increased dialogue between our schools and stakeholders.’A proposal discussed at last month’s board of education meeting would have staggered the start and end times about 45 minutes between primary/ elementary and middle/high school.
