The Lamar County board of education last week set the school millage rate at 15.8, the same rate that has been in effect for five years, despite a drop in the county tax digest.Superintendent Dr. Bill Truby explained the millage will not change ‘because we factored in the reduction in the digest.’ The budget is anticipated at about $19.3 million, he said.Board members were given a copy of the resolution for Special Local Option Sales Tax to be voted on Nov. 8. Truby said the funds are necessary to help re-pay the debt for the middle and elementary schools, Fine Arts Center, stadium and improvements at the high school.
