Lamar County schools will close Wednesday and Thursday due to the pending ice storm, The Herald Gazette has learned. Official notification to the public is expected shortly. UPDATE: The school system has confirmed the closure! UPDATE 2: Gordon State College is closed Wednesday and Thursday. Pike and Spalding schools have announced closures for those days as well. County offices will also close both days, according to commission chairman Jay Matthews. Road crews will be at work. The meeting has been rescheduled for February 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. All Southern Crescent Technical College locations will close at 5 p.m. Tuesday and be closed all day Wednesday. They will open at 10 a.m. on Thursday. The Pretty for Prom kickoff party set for Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Beautique downtown has been postponed . A new date will be announced soon. Criminal court set for Thursday has been cancelled. The Milner city council meeting set for Thursday has been postponed until Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 11 a.m.
