Sergeant Richard Lamar (Ricky) Cumbie

Sergeant Richard Lamar (Ricky) Cumbie, 77, of Milner, GA went to be with the Lord on March 8, 2024. He passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family, including his wonderful wife Lisa, who never left his side.
Ricky was born February 3, 1947 to the late Thomas M. Cumbie and Betty L. Copelamd Cumbie. Ricky served four years in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. During his service, Ricky gained the title of Sergeant and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for his many acheivements before being honorably discharged in 1972.
After his service in the Army, Ricky was employed by the Upson County Board of Education until his retirement.
Ricky loved being outdoors, riding horses and spending time with his grandchildren. Ricky was a man with many talents and he loved using those talents to help those around him. Ricky used those talents to help build the POW-MIA Wall at Warner Robins AFB and to simply help his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Ricky was preceded in death by wife Sally Ware Cumbie.
Ricky is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Lynch Hodges Cumbie; daughter Paige Buice (Johnathan); sons Evan Hodges (Ashley) and Justin Hodges (Jayla); grandchildren Ryleigh, Carson, Sebastian, Alex, Brylee, Brayden, Brenden, Braxden, Averie, Hayden and Isabella and several nieces and nephews.
Services for Ricky will be held at Griffin First Assembly at a later date. Condolences can be sent to 190 Tom Bell Rd., Milner, GA 30257. The family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers.
