Services set for sports legend

Ken Green, The Herald Gazette’s longtime sportswriter, died Saturday, June 28, at his residence. His many friends and family will memorialize his life at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at New Life Baptist Church. In his sports-related career, Green was for many years the voice of Lamar County Trojans sports teams, having been a former Trojan football player himself. He loved football and was a big fan of Georgia Tech and the Lamar County Trojans. He coached at John Milledge Academy and Monroe Acad- emy and played football at West Georgia Col- lege. An expert on local sports history, he formerly worked for the Lamar County sheriff’s office. Survivors include a son, Ryan Green; a daughter, Megan Green; his parents, Roxie and Melvin Peugh and Clarence Sanders Green; brothers, Timothy Peugh and Christopher Peugh; and one sister, Jodie Peugh Harrell.
