SEXting not a threat to Lamar

Teens or adults caught sexting are facing stiffer penalties than ever before. In Georgia, anyone with a nude cell phone photo of a person under age 16 can face felony child molestation charges, which would mark them as a sex offender for life. District Attorney Richard Milam said Lamar County juvenile courts did handle one case locally. ”We know there has been at least one case of what they call sexting,” said Milam. “Sexting is a term made up by teens and the media and has no standing in the courts. There has been at least one allegation of pornographic material being passed by cell phones by children in the juvenile courts in Lamar County and a number of cases in Monroe County.”
