Sheriff Larry Waller has issued a Christmas shopping season safety alert. Waller said thieves now have a device that will capture the code from your vehicle remote control. Once you have left the vehicle, they can use the recording of the code to enter your vehicle and steal your possessions. The way around this scam is to lock your car doors manually or use the power lock function in the vehicle to lock the doors before you close them. ”That way, the code will not be transmitted, denying any crooks access to it,” Waller said.
