Sheriff: No real threat at Rock Springs

The school facility at the mammoth Rock Springs Congregational Methodist Church in northeast Lamar County was secured January 13 after a man showed up there threatening to take his own life. Sheriff Larry Waller reported the unidentified man was ;no real threat;. ;The man had no weapons of any sort. He threatened himself. He wanted to see Benny (Rock Springs pastor Dr. Benny Tate) and he wanted to see me,; Waller said. Tate prayed with the man who later got in Waller’s vehicle. He appeared before probate judge Kathy Martin was was sent to the VA hospital for evaluation, the sheriff added. ;I’m sure they locked down the school as a precaution. I would have, too,; Waller concluded. ; ;
