Sheriff Waller: Transition was smooth

Sheriff Larry Waller and his administrative team took over operation at the Lamar County sheriff’s office and detention center at 12:01 a.m. January 1. Waller, who began his second stint as sheriff, reported the transition was smooth. ”Everything is going fine. We are trying to find everything and get everything organized,” Waller said Friday. Both Waller and his predecessor Joe Buice, whom he defeated in the November general election by 90 votes, had pledged to work together to ensure a seamless transition and that effort paid off. Waller also said he was pleased with the personnel he retained from the Buice administration and those he brought onboard with him.
