Shiver obituary

James ‘Chunky’ Shiver, 73, of Barnesville, died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Shiver was the son of the late Grover George Shiver and the late Sara Alice Zellner Shiver. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of the First Baptist Church of Barnesville. Mr. Shiver was past president of the chamber of commerce and one of the founders of Buggy Days. He was an officer with the Jaycees and past president and one of the founders of the Blazing Saddle Riding Club. Survivors include his wife, Molly Tyus Shiver of Barnesville; two daughters, Wanda Shiver Grant of Milner and Patti Shiver Hester of Milner; three grandchildren, Jessica Grant, Caroline Grant and Macenzie Hester; three sisters, Emily Johnson of Barnesville, Janice Horton of Barnesville and Vicki McCullough of Spring Hill, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Barnesville. Interment will follow in the Milner Baptist Cemetery.
