Spalding sheriff Wendell Beam reports he and his investigators are working a case in which a man with a gunshot wound to the head was found on Bolton Pkwy. (Hwy. 16) Nov. 6. The 911 center got a call at 9:29 a.m. about a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle on the four-lane near its intersection with Wani Road. Upon arriving on the scene, deputies discovered the male had been shot in the head. He told investigators that he was shot as he jumped from a moving vehicle. The victim, who remained conscious and alert at the scene, was taken to the Medical Center in Macon by helicopter. The incident remains under investigation.
