Shot officer handled dead police dog

The off-duty Griffin police officer who was shot in a domestic disturbance in Spalding County was a Lamar County man who handled a police dog that was killed here in 2009, The Herald-Gazette has learned. Sources have identified the wounded officer as Chad Moxon. Moxon’s wound to his hip is not life-threatening. Moxon was not answering a call to the domestic incident. Moxon was the handler of the GPD’s police dog Jimi, who was killed here in November 2009. More to follow…
