Skipper Burns to lead GSC development office

Skipper Burns has joined the staff of Gordon State College as its development officer. In his new role, Burns is responsible for raising funds for the support and advancement of Gordon State College. ”We are fortunate to have someone with Skipper’s knowledge and background join our staff,” said Rhonda Toon, vice president of advancement and executive director of the Gordon State College Foundation. “Skipper has 20 years of experience in sales and marketing and should represent Gordon well.” Burns was most recently with Brightmoor Hospice in the area of community and provider relations. ”It is an exciting opportunity to become a member of the development team at Gordon State College,” Burns said. “Gordon has a long history as a provider of quality education. Our efforts will be directed at honoring that history and assisting in sustaining Gordon’s growth.” Burns and his wife, Anna, are longtime residents of Griffin. They have two children and two grandchildren and are members of First United Methodist Church of Griffin.
