The top-ranked, undefeated Lamar County Trojans routed the Metter Tigers in first round playoff action at Trojan Field Friday night. Lamar broke the school playoff scoring record in the first half. Realtime scoring from the game was provided by Walter Geiger. The Trojans struck early and often. Tailback Lawrence Austin had over 200 yards rushing in the first half as Lamar battered the Tigers relentlessly. He and his varsity running mates sat out the second half. The locals scored 58 points in the first half, eclipsing the school record for scoring in a playoff game. The previous record was 55. Lamar closed in on the overall scoring record of 63 points early in the third period but the JV fumbled away that opportunity. Lamar will host Thomasville in the second round here next Friday.
