SOLD! Foreclosures auctioned on courthouse steps

It’s a hurry up and wait process, but Roger Hollandsworth has been buying foreclosed properties from the courthouse steps for 25 years, beginning when he ran a Century 21 franchise in West Virginia. He has seen many changes in the market over the years. ”From 2004 to 2007, it was booming ‘“ anybody and everybody could get a loan and that’s what killed the market,” he said. “People who didn’t qualify were getting loans and this is the result of it. I think it’s going to take between four and five years to stabilize the market again.” Every month, locally foreclosed homes are auctioned off on the courthouse steps. Hollandsworth said it takes a lot of work and investigation to find a good deal on a foreclosed property.
