South 6th St. crash kills man

A 24-year-old Lamar County man was killed early Saturday in a single vehicle accident on South 6th Street Extension near its intersection with Camp Road. Joshua Terry Stanfield of 267 Pleasant Rd. died at the scene of the crash. Stanfield was southbound at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his 2006 Dodge Ram 3500, ran off the road and hit a utility pole. He was ejected from the vehicle according to Mike Maynard of the GSP. Routine toxicology will be done on Stanfield who was alone in the truck at the time of the crash. Visitation: Tuesday, July 27, 5-8 p.m. at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home, Griffin. Funeral: Wednesday, July 28, 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
