A Spalding County firefighter is on investigatory suspension after using his cell phone to film the mangled body of a traffic accident victim.County and fire officials refuse to identify the firefighter.Dayna Kempson-Schacht, 23, of Monticello, was killed when her car crashed into trees on Highway 19/41 in July. There are now crosses at the accident location to mark the spot where she died.WSBTV Channel 2 Action News reporter Eric Philips spoke with the family on Monday after they saw the video for themselves.the family said that investigators told them that a firefighter at the scene of the accident shot the video. The family said they were told the firefighter talked about the video and shared it by text message and with patrons allegedly at Buffalo’s Restaurant and Bar on 16 West of Griffin.The family said one of the people who received the video recognized their daughter Dayna and then called them.Mrs. Kempson told WKEU and WSB TV NEWS quote ‘She was an angel. She was my angel,’'(It was) a very violent, very horrific crash,’ said the victim’s father, Jeffrey Kempson.Her parents, Jeffrey and Lucretia Kempson, said they thought that was the darkest day of their life until two-and-a-half months later they got a call that cell phone video of their daughter’s severely injured body at the crash was being shown around town by a firefighter who shot the video with his personal phone.On the video, which Channel 2 Action News chose not to air, due to its graphic nature, had a person’s voice that could be heard describing the scene of the accident vividly as well as the inside of the vehicle.’It was someone’s daughter. And someone’s mother,’ said Mrs. Kempson.Dayna was a young mother of two, was a very strong, independent woman who smiled constantly. Now, her parents said they can’t get the video out of their mind.Mrs. Kempson also stated ‘She was disrespected by people that we trust to take care of us,’ ‘We want to do whatever it takes to make sure this never happens again,’ said Jeffrey Kempson. Who indicated the family plans to talk with legislators and the congressional delegation to stop this type procedure. The Acting Spalding County fire chief said the firefighter is on leave with pay pending the investigation. County attorney Jim Fortune had no comment. And County Officials, and Commissioners have been advised by Fortune not to discuss the case as or it’s related investigation.Griffin Judicial Circuit District Attorney Scott Ballard has stated to investigators that he did not feel there were criminal laws that cover such activity, however he felt that there is possibly of a civil case for the matter.How would you punish the firefighter for his poor judgement?
