Spalding sheriff breaks silence on Moxon arrest

Spalding sheriff Wendell Beam has finally broken his silence on the arrest of a Griffin PD officer from Culloden who has been arrested on charges stemming from a domestic incident in which he was shot The full release follows: On 12 June 2012 the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office investigated a shooting incident at 4768 Old Atlanta Road Griffin, Georgia. At the time officers arrived they found one person shot and the suspect later identified as Richard Lee Bivens 30 years old, of Locust Grove, Georgia at the scene. Mr. Bivens provided officer’s with information that he shot the person in self defense. An Investigation was conducted and on 14 September 2012, after receiving Forensic evidence from the Georgia Bureau of Investigations Crime Lab, warrants were obtained for the arrest of Chad Moxon, 28 years old, of Culloden, Georgia charging him with Battery; False report of a crime and False statements and writings. Bivens was arrested the night of the incident and charged with Battery and has since made bond. Moxon was arrested after turning himself into the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility on Wednesday 19 September 2012 and has since posted bond on the charge of False Statements and Writings.
