Shameik Spinks goes on trial for murder Monday in Lamar superior court with Judge Tommy Wilson presiding. Some 130 potential jurors have been called for the jury selection process. Spinks faces two counts of felony murder and multiple other charges in connection with the home invasion murder of Danavan Bussey. Spinks’ cousin, Lavieivius Eleby, will go on trial for the same crime March 5. A third codefendant, Bryce Arsenio Smith, accepted a plea deal and will be the prosecution’s star witness in the trials. Spinks had yet another opportunity to accept a plea deal last week but opted to go to trial. He allegedly shot Bussey in the face with a 12 gauge shotgun during the robbery attempt at a home Bussey and others rented on Westchester Drive here.
